China Facilitates Liberian Border Patrols
The Embassy of China has donated 20 motorbikes to the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization (BIN) to protect Liberian borders. The donation was made on Wednesday, July 28, 2010.
Chinese Ambassador Zhou Yuxiao, presenting the motorbikes to BIN officials, stated that the donation was aimed at easing transportation constrains faced by BIN personnel posted at the entry points around the country.
“These donations are to only show our solidarity, friendship and cooperation. We know that the BIN is supposed to do so much but logistically, they are limited.
And we want to show that China is a friend to Liberia and we are behind you. Though, it will not solve your entire transportation problem, we hope it does something,” Amb. Yuxiao stated.
Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Justice, Madam Rose Stryker, Criminal Investigating Consultant, noted that the bikes would be graciously accepted and used to protect Liberian borders.
For his part, the Commissioner of BIN, Col. Chris Massaquoi, expressed his institution’s appreciations for the donation.
Commissioner Massaquoi further stated that the donation was of great significance in facilitating the works of BIN, especially protecting border.
He assured the Chinese Ambassador that the motor bikes would be used for their intended purposes and praised the cordial relations between Liberia and China.
